UPDATED: Workshop addresses reintegration from juvenile detention

Note: This dispatch has been updated because the workshop scheduled to take place at Long Creek Youth Development Center on Oct. 28 has been canceled.

The Maine Departments of Education and Corrections are collaborating to sponsor two workshops at Maine’s juvenile corrections centers that focus on reintegrating school-age youth from juvenile detention into the school environment.

The workshops are aimed at those working in schools, juvenile detention centers and elsewhere to help students transition from juvenile detention to school.

The sessions take place Oct. 28 at Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland and Nov. 10 at Mountain View Youth Development Center in Charleston.

Both workshops last from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

To register for the Long Creek session, contact Susan Pettengill at susan.pettengill@maine.gov.

To register for the Mount View session, contact Elizabeth Beaulieu at elizabeth.beaulieu@maine.gov.
