Summer institute will kick off initiative focused on standards-based instruction and assessment in world languages classes

World languages teachers are invited to apply to attend the 2012 World Languages in Maine Schools Summer Institute from June 27-30 at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The summer institute marks the kickoff of the World Languages in Maine Schools: Standards-Based Instruction and Assessment Initiative.

World language teachers are invited to apply to become Regional Teacher Leaders for the initiative, or regular participants in the summer institute.

Additional information about the summer institute and the initiative, along with application materials, are available at the Maine Department of Education’s World Languages page. The application deadline is May 1.

The instruction and assessment initiative is a collaborative effort of the Maine Department of Education, the Foreign Language Association of Maine (FLAME) and the American Council on the Teacher of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
