Notice of IDEA, Part B state advisory panel meetings

The IDEA, Part B State Advisory Panel meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cross State Office Building (CSOB) in Augusta, room 300.

Meetings are also scheduled for:

  • Wednesday, July 10, 2013, 9 to 11 a.m., CSOB, room 500
  • Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, 9 to 11 a.m., CSOB, room 103A
  • Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, 9 to 11 a.m., CSOB, room 541

Additional meetings may be scheduled if determined to be necessary by the panel members.

The first meeting is to learn about the advisory role of the panel and its responsibilities, as well as the members’ perspectives on this work, and for the panel to meet the director of the Department’s Special Services Office and learn about the Department’s priority work with students with disabilities who are served under Part B of IDEA. It will also be a time for the panel members to select a chair or co-chairs, and to begin to build an agenda for future meetings and work.

The July meeting will provide for an orientation/interactive discussion by the Northeast Regional Resource Center on IDEA advisory boards.

Agendas for subsequent meetings will be set by the panel and posted on the Department’s website at www.maine.gov/doe/specialed/idea/advisory.

If you need an interpreter or other services required by those with disabilities to ensure the opportunity to benefit from the meetings, please contact Kara Farwell at kara.farwell@maine.gov at least 10 days prior to the meeting.

  1. You’re welcome. And yes, the agenda will include a period of time for public perspective. The agenda will be released soon.

  2. Thank you – One more question – will there be an opportunity for public comments at the meetings?
