School Bus Driver Appreciation Day

School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in Maine acknowledges the importance of school bus drivers to a student’s education and will be held Monday, Oct. 26, as proclaimed by Governor Paul R. LePage.

Focusing on safety, bus drivers are responsible for delivering approximately 80 percent of Maine’s children to and from school every day in all kinds of weather. The duties bus drivers carry out are integral to the daily process of educating children, and they follow the laws of the road to maximize the safety of those on-board, traditionally marking Maine as having one of the lowest school bus crash rates in the nation.
