What a great start to the Listening Tour yesterday.
I met with Western Region superintendents in Auburn for two hours, toured schools in Greene and Turner, and wrapped up the night with a public forum at Leavitt Area High School. Many thanks to Superintendent Burdin and the staff and students of SAD 52 for their hospitality!
It was terrific to get feedback from so many folks, and I’m thrilled that people seem so interested in thinking about how our schools could be transformed over the next few years.
We even got some news coverage on WCSH6 and in the Lewiston Sun Journal.
As for that transformation, we’re working on it. I look forward to hearing from educators and others across the state over the next two to three months, and then coming back with a strategic plan that will do just that – narrow our focus and then stick to that vision.
Tomorrow, we’ll do it again in Bangor, with an emphasis on career and technical education. I’ll visit the United Technologies Center and the Penobscot Job Corps before taking input from the public at a forum at United Technologies Center.
