Improvements planned for MEDMS staff data system

The Maine Department of Education will upgrade its staff reporting system for the upcoming school year using the existing Maine Education Data Management System (MEDMS).

MEDMS is the system that districts have used to report staff data for the past five years, and the system districts will continue to use to report staff data in the fall.

After working with Infinite Campus to develop an easy-to-use and reliable staff data system, the Department of Education has determined that Infinite Campus’ solution for staff data will not meet Maine’s needs.

Infinite Campus will continue to provide services for student data through its District Edition and State Edition.

The upgrades to MEDMS, which will take place over the coming summer and throughout the 2011-12 year, will include:

  • improved reporting options,
  • the ability to upload to the state system directly from local data systems,
  • improved security, and
  • functionality in both PC and Apple web browsers.
