The Association of Teachers of Mathematics in Maine (ATOMIM) is hosting eight sessions across the state this fall to allow high school math teachers to discuss “Reasoning and Sense-Making in the Classroom.”
The sessions — all of which last from 4 to 7 p.m. and offer refreshments — focus on using the Common Core state standards for math in the classroom and tactics for asking students simple questions that help them develop reasoning and problem-solving skills.
The sessions will address tasks from algebra, geometry and statistics.

- Nov. 1 at Mountain Valley High School, Rumford
- Nov. 4 at Maine School of Science and Mathematics, Limestone
- Nov. 15 at the University of Maine at Farmington
