Gov. Paul LePage has signed a proclamation that makes Friday, Oct. 21 School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.
The proclamation can be found on the Maine DOE website, as a PDF, at: http://www.maine.gov/education/const/trans/2011%20Proclamation.pdf.
The document cites bus drivers’ “unique and vital position in the lives of Maine children,” and recognizes the state’s more than 2,000 bus drivers for traveling more than 32 million miles annually to transport Maine students to and from school.
