Google is inviting Maine student artists in grades K-12 to enter Doodle 4 Google 2012, a competition to redesign the Google logo and have it featured on Google’s homepage for a day.
This year’s Doodle 4 Google theme is, “If I could travel in time, I’d visit…”
The contest winner will have his or her artwork featured on the Google homepage for a full day, receive $30,000 to put toward college, receive $50,000 for his or her school and have his or her artwork featured on a special edition of Crayola’s 64-crayon box.
In addition, the five state finalists for Maine and the five runners-up will have their artwork displayed at the Maine Discovery Museum in Bangor.
Maine students have an impressive track record in this contest. Last year, Brewer High School student Morgan Forrest was one of 40 finalists in the competition, out of more than 107,000 entries from across the country. Additional Maine students ranked among the top 400 entries.
