Special education staff and other educators who work with students with disabilities are invited to a conference focused on the neuropsychology of math and applying such concepts to math instruction for students with disabilities.
The conference, “Mind Over Math: The Neuropsychology of Mathematics and Practical Application for Instruction for Students with Disabilities,” takes place March 23 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle with options for remote participation available at sites in Augusta, Bangor, Belfast, Bethel, Hartland and Machias.
The daylong gathering will feature opening remarks by Maine Education Commissioner Stephen Bowen. The main presenter is Dr. Christopher Kaufman, a Maine-licensed psychologist and certified School Psychological Services Provider. Formerly the Lead Psychologist for the Portland School Department, Kaufman now operates a private practice, Kaufman Psychological Services, in Portland.
