Bill language released for education proposals

Note: This dispatch was updated on March 7 at 4:57 p.m. to update information about public hearings.

Bill language is now available for four pieces of education-related legislation proposed this winter by Gov. Paul LePage.

The Maine Department of Education has posted the final — but not official — bill language on its website so members of the public can review the legislation in advance of public hearings.

The four pieces of legislation are:

  • An Act to Ensure Effective Teaching and School Leadership
  • An Act to Remove Inequity in Student Access to Certain Schools
  • An Act to Expand Educational Opportunities for Maine Students
  • An Act to Enhance Career and Technical Education

The bill language is available in PDF form at http://www.maine.gov/education/first/index.html.

Public hearings have been scheduled for March 13-15. Visit the website above for details.
