Commissioner’s Recognition nominations accepted through April 13

The Maine Department of Education is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Commissioner’s Recognition Awards Program, which recognizes individuals and programs that have made significant contributions to meeting the needs of children at risk.

Each school administrative unit is able to submit one nomination. Each district’s Dropout Prevention Committee must endorse the school unit’s nomination.

Boards of non-profit institutions can also submit one nomination each.

The individuals nominated do not have to be educators; they can also be parents, civic leaders, community members, business people and agency service providers.

Nominations are due April 13.

Review nomination guidelines and download a nomination form from the Maine DOE website.
