Conference focuses on teaching in ‘tough times’

Educators from pre-kindergarten through the university level are invited to a one-day workshop on June 22 focused on “Teaching and Leading in Tough Times.”

The workshop, which takes place 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at Merriconeag Waldorf School Community Hall in Freeport, will touch on a number of educational leadership topics, including:

  • What are effective ways to reduce stress and anxiety?
  • How can we increase relational trust and develop collegial teams to foster shared leadership and make our schools, colleges and universities healthier and safer environments for teaching and learning?
  • How can we remain true to ourselves and our deepest aspirations for students in the face of ever-increasing demands that reduce our time with them?
  • What is needed to help leaders and teachers sustain their life’s work for enough years to form true professional learning communities and realize the educational results they envision?

Teams of educators from the same school or organization are encouraged to attend together.

The cost is $150, or $100 for registering by April 15. Visit the event website for additional details and to register.

The event is sponsored by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Center for Courage & Renewal.
