“Highly Qualified Teacher” reporting past due

It is past time for the annual Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) data collection. Although an earlier reminder was not included in the weekly Commissioner’s Update, the information was originally posted on the Department’s Reporting Calendar, with a due date of May 15, 2012.

Data for the 2011-12 HQT survey will again be web-enabled through MEDMS. In order to facilitate the Maine DOE’s reporting to the U.S. Department of Education, the data for all units must be submitted via MEDMS immediately. The HQT form has been available in MEDMS since April 20, 2012.

Directions for completing the HQT data survey as well as a worksheet copy of the HQT survey are available online. The worksheet copy of the survey is made available for your in-unit convenience as a data collection tool.

Once each school’s data are collected, the data will need to be entered by an authorized central office designee. The user’s MEDMS account requires that the HQT role be assigned. The local MEDMS administrator with the “SAU Admin” role already has this permission and can assign it to other users. The survey can be accessed in MEDMS from the Application menu option, “Forms.”  From the Action menu, select “HQT form.”

Note: This survey is for 2011-2012 school year data only.
