Career & technical students invited to attend upcoming conferences

Career and Technical education students have access to a number of organizations that may help them develop leadership skills and offer the opportunity to compete in events showcasing their technical skills. These conferences are generally held during the spring of each year in a variety of locations throughout Maine.

Conference dates

DECA Conference

  • South Portland
    March 7 & 8
    Students in a variety of business studies, including marketing, finance, hospitality and management programs, test their skills and receive valuable feedback from a variety of judges.

Future Business Leaders of America State Conference

  • March 11 to 13
    FBLA provides additional opportunities for secondary students (grades 7-12) in business and business-related fields to develop vocational and career-supportive competencies and to promote civic and personal responsibilities.

SkillsUSA Maine Championship

  • March 14 & 15
    Bangor
    State-level competition for high school and college students enrolled in trade, technical and skilled service instructional programs.

Health Occupations Students of America & Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (joint conference)

  • April 4 & 5
    Bangor
    HOSA is open to students in the health services field. Events include testing and skills demonstrations in Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Veterinary Assistant, and Biotechnology.  FCCLA competitions focus on early childhood and human development; food sciences, dietetics and nutrition; hospitality, tourism and recreation; fashion and housing design; and family, career and community studies.

Annual FFA Conference

  • May 9 and 10
    Orono
    FFA includes students studying agriculture in a variety of forms. Testing and skills demonstrations include agricultural mechanics and sales, dairy cattle, horse and livestock evaluations, forestry, floriculture, nursery and landscape management, and public speaking.
