Attend Maine Cohort for Customized Learning workshop

All Maine educators are invited to hear about the customized learning vision for Maine schools at the Maine Cohort for Customized Learning’s upcoming consortium: “Designing a Standards-Based, Customized Learning Community.”

This consortium is open to any school team that registers—not just to those whose schools are members of MCCL. Throughout the four-day event, teams will increase their understanding of the components of standards-based education, specifically the development of structure, curriculum, assessment and grading.

Bea McGarvey, a Maine native who dedicated a 30-year career to Maine schools, will host the event. In the past decade, she has served as a distinguished education consultant for more than 100 schools and districts, as well as state and federal education agencies, specifically in the areas of teaching and learning, leadership, and organizational development. Currently, she is a partner in Total Leaders Associates and a senior associate at Marzano Research Lab. McGarvey is co-author, with Charles Schwahn, of Inevitable: Mass Customized Learning – Learning in the Age of Empowerment.

The consortium, a four-day training split into two parts, will be held at the T&B Celebrations Center in Waterville on Sept. 23-24 and Nov. 5-6, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost of attendance for all four days is $2,550 for a team of six people. The cost for individuals is $445.

Please register for this event.
