2014 Educator Talent Pool recommendations deadline coming up

The Maine DOE is accepting recommendations for the 2014 Maine Educator Talent Pool through May 2.

The Talent Pool is made up of teachers and principals who may be considered for membership on local and state advisory boards and task forces, along with special recognition opportunities through the Maine DOE.

The DOE is currently seeking elementary educators (grades K-5) relatively new to the profession, with five to 18 years of experience, who show unusual instructional ability; inspire their students, colleagues and community members; have strong leadership potential; and are comparable to the nation’s best educators.

Candidates are typically certified classroom teachers holding a bachelor’s degree. Previous recognition is not required. In fact, the Maine DOE is especially interested in educators who are outstanding but have not received other recognition.

Please include a one-page narrative that addresses how a candidate meets the Talent Pool criteria as listed on the recommendation form, and a resume from his or her personnel file.

We ask that you keep this recommendation confidential and do not share it with the individual.
