The Maine DOE is pleased to announce the Smarter Balanced Digital Library, a collection of vetted instructional, assessment and professional development resources, currently contains more than 2,000 resources, including each grade level, K-12, in the content areas of mathematics and English language arts.
The Department is grateful to Maine’s educators who joined a multi-state network of teachers in submitting, reviewing and evaluating. The review included a focus on content quality, alignment to standards and adherence to the attributes of formative assessment.
Many Maine educators have already experienced the Digital Library during the preview phase that began in June. The library is now in transition from the preview version to the operational version. Educators who already received Digital Library user accounts during the preview period will continue to access the operational library in the same manner using their established user ids and passwords. This new operational version includes enhanced features and additional resources.
For educators who have not yet accessed the Digital Library, user profiles will need to be created. To do this, school or district administrators should submit an Excel spreadsheet with the first name, last name and email address of each potential user to Maine DOE’s Bethany Dodge at bethany.l.dodge@maine.gov.
To learn more about the formative assessment resources in the Digital Library, there will be two upcoming Dine-and-Discuss sessions hosted by the Maine Council for English Language Arts. The first will be held at the Midcoast School of Technology in Rockland on Oct. 7 and the other is at the United Technologies Center in Bangor on Oct. 15.
