The work of student artists from three Maine schools will be displayed at the Maine DOE’s office in Augusta throughout the coming year.
Student art from Windsor Elementary School (Genevieve Keller, teacher), Biddeford Intermediate School (Kate Grant, teacher) and Beech Hill School (Kiley Stevens, teacher) will join the winning works from the Maine Learning Technology Initiative screensaver contest on the Department’s walls, where it will be enjoyed by Maine DOE staff and visitors including legislators, members of the State Board of Education, business leaders, school administrators and educators.
These rotating exhibits celebrate the high quality of Maine student artwork and the teachers and programs that support them. Exhibits change every three months and include a minimum of 24 pieces of artwork. Displayed student art from grades K-12 reflects the use of various media including oil, fabric, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, photographs, cutwork, aluminum tooling, paper collage, tempera and linoleum prints.
A call for new student artwork to display during the 2015-16 school year will go out via the Commissioner’s Update next June.
