Registration for Maine Semester of Youth Service is open now through Dec. 12.
The eight-week program begins on the Martin Luther King Day of Service and ends in late March and brings students together to plan and implement either a service-learning project or community youth service project.
Mini-grants of $300 are available again this year to offset transportation and supply costs. Classes and youth groups that complete their projects by March 20 will have the opportunity to attend the new Maine Youth Volunteer Appreciation Night at the Portland Pirates’ game on April 3. The evening is sponsored by Maine AmeriCorps Alums and the Maine Commission for Community Service in partnership with the Portland Pirates.
Additionally, participants will present their projects’ accomplishments to a statewide audience at a virtual Global Youth Service Day Celebration later in April.
