Schoolwide Plan due, Department schedules webinar

The Maine DOE is hosting a webinar next month to provide guidance to Title I schools as they complete their Schoolwide Plan, which now must be submitted to the Department.

A Schoolwide Plan is a comprehensive reform strategy designed to improve the entire educational program in a Title I school. Its primary goal is to ensure that all students, particularly those who are low-achieving, demonstrate proficient and advanced levels of achievement of the Maine Learning Results.

In an effort to further align the Schoolwide program with the No Child Left Behind application and school improvement efforts, all schools currently approved as Schoolwide are asked to submit a copy of their comprehensive evaluation of the schoolwide program by July 1. Non-submission of the evaluation may impact the Schoolwide status of the school.

A copy of the updated Schoolwide evaluation template and guidance regarding how to successfully complete the process can be found here.

In an effort to provide additional guidance and support to schools as they conduct their required reviews, a webinar has been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

To register for the free webinar by the Feb. 13 deadline or for further technical assistance, please contact Maine DOE Title VI Program Manager Chelsey Fortin-Trimble at chelsey.a.fortin@maine.gov or 624-6815.
