The conference has been serving Maine schools since 1986, making it the longest running of its kind in the country. The three-day professional development event drew school personnel including administrators, educators, and staff in the areas of school health services, transportation and food service as well as members of the community.

Teams came away from the conference with a developed health promotion and wellness action plan for the upcoming school year. Participants were charged with expanding teams’ knowledge and enhancing skills in leadership, communication, team building, strategic planning, health promotion and wellness. They also gathered information, skills, resources, program ideas, and inspiration from more than 40 additional learning opportunities led by experts from state agencies, organizations and fellow Wellness Team members.

The Maine Schoolsite Health Promotion Program is a year-long program that assists schools in meeting healthy outcomes. For more information contact the Department’s Health Education and Health Promotion Coordinator Susan Berry at  susan.berry@maine.gov or 624-6695.
