The Maine DOE is pleased to announce the addition of two veteran educators to the Standards and Instructional Support Team. Charles Lomonte and Beth Lambertwill step into the key roles of Educator Effectiveness Coordinator and Visual and Performing Arts Specialist, respectively.
Charles (Chuck) Lomonte brings more than 25 years of experience as a classroom teacher, principal and most recently, as an assistant superintendent to his new role as the Maine DOE’s Educator Effectiveness Coordinator. Lamonte earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Dowling College and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Leadership from the University of Southern Maine. He has recent experience with educator effectiveness from service at MSAD 6 and has led significant school improvement efforts as part of a federal SIG grant in the Biddeford schools. Coupled with his extensive work in teacher evaluation and teacher mentorship, he will provide strong supports for educator effectiveness and will build connections to Title I and school improvement efforts. Lomonte understands the Maine leadership landscape and has demonstrated expertise related to school level systems change. In 2009 he was recognized as a Maine Principal of the Year by the Maine Principals’ Association.
Beth Lambert brings 10 years of education experience at middle and high school levels in the Arts. Lambert earned a Bachelor’s Degree in the Theatre Arts/English from Lawrence University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). In addition to her classroom experience, Lambert worked for Syntiro as an assistant director for the GEAR UP grant and served as a research assistant at HGSE. Through her involvement in the Maine Arts Assessment Initiative (MAAI) and her local leadership in standards, curriculum and assessment, she has extensive experience with proficiency-based assessments, student-centered teaching and teacher leadership. She is involved with state and national visual and performing arts professional organizations including the MAAI, Maine Arts Education Association, the Maine Drama Council and Maine Arts Commission with Poetry Out Loud and National Arts Education Association. Lambert’s extensive experience coordinating and brokering professional development at regional, state and national levels and her deep commitment to collaboration between organizations and individuals have prepared her well for this new role.
