The nomination letter on behalf of Ross read in part, “Mr. Ross’ ability to connect with students and his advocacy for music education has made our performing arts programs in RSU 22 among the best in the state.”

The letter noted that between 65 and 70 percent of Wagner and Smith students participated in music education programs, including extracurricular activities such as jazz band, show choir, beginning band, and individual music lessons.

At the recognition ceremony, fellow music teacher and friend, Heidi Corliss, said, “In RSU22, we talk of striving for excellence in all we do. Dana Ross exemplifies excellence in his teaching, in his care for the students, and in communication with parents. He models that excellence for students, parents, colleagues, and community members.”
