Upcoming facilities conference for school staff

The Maine Department of Education is encouraging superintendents, facilities directors, business managers, maintenance teams and custodial staff to attend the forty-eighth Annual School Facilities Conference at Waterville High School on June 28-29. The conference is free for public school staff; registration is required.

This is a multi-track conference addressing health and workplace safety regulations, facilities and business management, security, integrated pest management, maintenance, lead in drinking water, playground safety, custodial care and more. This conference provides a unique venue for school staff to collaborate and learn how to manage buildings to foster positive learning environments.

A national expert on facilities management and operations, Greg Lookabaugh, will be presenting this year’s keynote presentation, Transitional Leadership from Choices to Practice. In 2009, he assisted the United States Department of Energy in educating school districts across the nation in energy conservation.

This conference is a collaboration of the Maine DOE and the Educational Plant Maintenance Association of Maine.
