Youth health survey to be delivered next February

The Maine Department of Education in collaboration with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, is pleased to announce the fifth administration of the Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey (MIYHS) will be conducted in February.

Public schools containing any grades seven through twelve are encouraged to participate in the fullcensus survey, and schools containing kindergarten or grade three, five or six may be chosen as part of the elementary sample.

This survey provides schools with an opportunity to take a comprehensive look at the risk behaviors and protective factors of the youth in their communities. The 2015 survey results show youth are making healthier choices, including smoking and drinking less, but are increasingly struggling with their emotional well-being. The MIYHS website has several new features including a Data Dashboard and State level Snapshots.
