The Maine DOE’s Science and Technology Specialist Anita Bernhardt will conduct a two-hour informational session for educators to learn about the Next Generation Science Standards, hosted by the Lewiston School Department. The event is open to all Maine educators, though only 50 can attend.
Maine is one of 26 lead states working with Achieve to develop the NGSS. In this session, attendees will learn: the basics of the framework for K-12 science education; how NGSS fits with Common Core standards; the connection between NGSS and Understanding by Design; and the relationship between science and literacy through the implementation of practices.
The event will be held on Nov. 26 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Lewiston High School. Light refreshments will be served.
