Model policy on bullying and cyberbullying released

The Maine Department of Education’s model policy on bullying and cyberbullying is now available on the Bullying Prevention website.

An Act to Prohibit Bullying and Cyberbullying in Schools (PL 659) was passed in the last legislative session and signed by the Governor. The law requires the Department to develop a model policy, send this policy to all districts in the state, and post this policy on the Department website. All districts will be asked to review and revise their current policies to make them consistent with the model policy provided.

The website will contain the model policy, the law, examples of data and reporting forms, student safety plans, flow charts for intervening in bullying incidents, and other resources. Please continue checking the Bulling Prevention website in the coming weeks for more updates and materials.
