Department updates guidance on adult ed and MUSER

The Maine DOE has recently revised its FAQs on adult education and its role in Maine’s Unified Special Education Regulations (MUSER).

The updates provide clarification on the relationship between MUSER and adult education in Maine as it relates to the education of enrolled students with disabilities and their special instructional needs in high school and adult education programs.  Adult education programs are also required to provide services to students with disabilities in accordance with both the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

The material presented in this question and answer document is the result of a set of questions developed by adult educators and answered by the Office of Special Services and the Office of Adult Education with the Maine DOE.

The revised document is located here.
