Dyslexia for a Day workshop on Feb. 1

Project D.E.B.U.N.K., a resource for youth with dyslexia and their families and educators, is sponsoring a Dyslexia for a Day workshop in Brewer on Feb. 1.

This workshop was created by the Dyslexia Training Institute so individuals or groups that are interested in learning more about dyslexia and what those with dyslexia often experience with reading, writing and processing can experience a hands-on simulation.

This workshop is ideal for experienced teachers, teacher training candidates, practitioners, immediate and extended family members, or anyone interested. It is designed to help individuals gain a better understanding of and empathy for those children and adults who struggle with dyslexia by walking participants through five different simulations: two reading, two writing and one processing simulation.

Limited seats are available for the workshop, which will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Feb. 1 at the Machias Savings Bank on 581 Wilson St. in Brewer. To register, visit www.debunkworkshop.myevent.com.
