Maine DOE sets reduced AP test fees for low-income students

The Maine DOE has worked with the U.S. Department of Education and the College Board to acquire grant money to cover a portion of the exam fee for low-income students who are enrolled in an Advanced Placement course.

While the cost for a 2015 AP Exam is $91, the Maine DOE will contribute $41 for low-income test takers, College Board will provide a $29 fee reduction per exam for qualifying students and schools will waive their $9 administrative cost fee. As a result, low-income students will now pay $12 per the cost of each exam, which will be collected by schools to be paid to College Board at the time of invoicing.
