K-8 educators invited to summer iPad retreat

Registration for iPadagogy, a summer retreat for educators on using iPads in the K-8 classroom, is now open. This relaxing, casual retreat, held June 23-25 at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, will include cutting-edge presentations by teachers, school technology staff, guest speakers and educational administrators, all sharing their expertise and experiences in the use of iPads as an educational tool.

Everyone attending this retreat must have an iPad. You can bring your own, borrow one at the retreat, or purchase one as part of the registration cost (see registration information for details). This hands-on retreat will explore the many uses of iPads in an elementary and middle school setting.

The retreat consists of three different tracks. Participants may attend App Sessions from any of the tracks offered. All participants will receive contact hour certificates for their attendance.

The registration fee is $275. This fee includes all meals but does not include housing. On-campus housing is available for an additional fee, or you may choose to stay in a nearby hotel. You may choose to purchase a 16GB iPad 2 with case (at the cost of $400) as part of the registration cost of this retreat. The registration deadline for all conference attendees purchasing iPads is May 17. All other attendees have until June 3 to register.

If you are part of a team of professionals attending from one school or organization, please indicate so when you register. A team of five or more will receive a discount on the price of each individual registration. However, each participant must complete a registration form individually online. Teams or individuals who work at an EDUcadia school (UMFK, MSAD 27, MSAD 33, MSAD 24, Madawaska School Department) will also receive a discount on retreat registration.

Special retreat activities – including trail walk, yoga, and mountain hike – are included in the price of registration. Please indicate the activities you wish to be part of at the time of registration. Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for these activities.
