Released science assessment items posted online

The released items from the 2011 state science assessments have been posted to the Maine Department of Education website.

Each year, the Maine Department of Education releases 50 percent of the test questions from the fifth-, eighth- and 11th-grade science assessments to the field.

The data from these items, which are administered to approximately 14,000 students at each grade level, can provide insight into students’ understanding of science concepts and can complement data collected locally from other assessments.

Released items from the Maine Educational Assessment science exams — which are given to students in grades 5 and 8 — can be found by clicking here.

Released science items from the Grade 11 Maine High School Assessment can be found by clicking here and scrolling to “2011 Science Released Items.”
