@maineffa State Reporter and Southern Maine Community College student Jillian McLaughlin created this short video during last week’s CTE Month celebrations at the Maine State Capitol, capturing the incredible talent, innovation, and impact of Maine’s Career & Technical Education programs. New opportunity for early learning communities! Learn how the Early Learning Solutions Lab Community of Practice and mini-grant opportunities can help turn ideas into meaningful impact for young learners and families. #ReadtoME in action at Veazie Community School! Mrs. Allen’s second-grade class has been celebrating World Read Aloud Day with an extended week of fun and learning, welcoming nearly a dozen “mystery readers” into their classroom! Each guest sent three clues ahead of time, giving students a chance to guess their identity before they arrived to share a favorite story aloud. Celebrating great work in Maine schools! Learn how Eliot Elementary School (Marshwood Schools) is building a strong sense of belonging and improving student attendance through intentional relationships, daily routines, and community connection. Do you know an outstanding volunteer or service organization making a difference in your community? Nominations are now open for the 2026 Governor’s Awards for Service and Volunteerism. Maine DOE Director of Early Learning Lee Anne Larsen had a delightful time reading with K–2 students at Atwood Primary School in RSU 18 this week! Larsen shared stories by Maine author Chris Van Dusen — Learning to Ski with Mr. Magee, If I Built a School, and Big Truck, Little Island — the experience brought lots of smiles, imagination, and joy. #ReadtoME Challenge Spotlight! Students in the 21st CCLC After School Program at Katahdin Elementary in Stacyville enjoyed a special visit from guest reader Nicki Ritchie, ELA teacher at Katahdin Middle School (Katahdin Schools)! Nicki shared two Chickadee Award books, sparking excitement, connection, and a love of reading. Thank you for helping make reading come alive for students! Another great day at the State House celebrating Career & Technical Education Month! Get to know 2026 Maine Teacher of the Year Julia Edwards (@singwithme_207)!
