Maine DOE launches web resources for assessment

The Maine DOE has launched a new section on its website with resources related to the new online Maine Educational Assessment for Mathematics and English Language Arts/Literacy developed by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, as well as a portal developed by its vendor, American Institutes for Research (AIR), for assessment administration.

The MEA pages are linked off of the Department’s assessment site at www.maine.gov/doe/assessment and include a calendar of important dates related to the assessment, online tutorials, test administration materials, technology resources, and links to practice and training tests as well as the Digital Library.

Additionally, in collaboration with its assessment administration vendor AIR, the Department has launched an online portal through which all MEA registration, administration and reporting will take place.

The portal will provide password-protected access for district and school staff with particular roles in the testing process including district administrators, school test coordinators and test administrators. Last week, the Department asked superintendents via a Priority Notice to identify their district assessment coordinator, referred to by AIR as the District/System Administrator. Once those designees have been identified, initial log-in credentials will be emailed to District/System Administrators who in turn identify the individuals who require access as what AIR refers to as School Test Coordinators and Test Administrators.

The portal can be accessed at: http://me.portal.airast.org/.
