During the 2012-13 academic year, the Maine DOE launched the Cross Discipline Literacy Network (CDLN), a professional learning network focused on helping PK-12 educators learn and apply literacy strategies to improve content instruction that promotes student proficiency. The network operates regionally across the state, utilizing both face-to-face networking experiences and digital webinar sessions.
Maine educators are invited to register for the 2015-16 school year. This year’s CDLN plans include four webinar strands developed by Maine educators as well as two in-person opportunities offered at four regional locations. This year’s webinars will examine the use of text-dependent questioning in close reading, integrated unit of study development and strategies for teaching unfamiliar genres. To explore all of the webinar offerings, find information about the in-person Dine and Discuss sessions and access the online registration, go to Cross Discipline Literacy Network web page. This low-cost, high-quality opportunity allows Maine educators to learn from each other across content areas and grade levels. The cost is $40 per year, and the registration deadline is Oct. 9.
