Student videographers show impact of the arts

AUGUSTA — A team of four students at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast set out to prove in a three-minute video that the impact of the performing arts stretches well beyond the theater. And a four-student team at Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft set out to demonstrate how the arts and a little more color in life can lift a person’s spirit and boost productivity.

Freeport teacher uses laptops to teach deeper

Maine Learning Technology Initiative allows algebra teacher to develop curriculum without textbooks.

FREEPORT — Alex Briasco-Brin has never taught using a textbook.

Instead, the Freeport Middle School algebra teacher has created a variety of applications for his students using the Apple MacBooks they all receive as part of the Maine Learning Technology Initiative.

Student Artwork to Appear on Laptop Screen Savers

AUGUSTA – Digital artwork by 19 Maine middle and high school students was chosen as the screensavers for 70,000 laptops used in Maine schools. The students were recognized last month at the annual Maine Learning Technology Initiative student conference at UMaine in Orono.
