Science workshops focus on Framework, standards

Maine educators will have the chance to learn more about the framework for K-12 Science Education Vision at two workshops held on September 20 and October 25, 2012.

The September session will focus on crosscutting concepts, and the October session will address integration of the three dimensions. The sessions will model components of the Framework and will help educators prepare to implement new standards. Please see details on the science framework for more information.

Anita Bernhardt, science and technology specialist for the Maine DOE, will lead these sessions, which build on the conversations from the summer framework strand that was held in July and August. It is not necessary to have attended the summer workshops to register for this program.

Both of the workshops will be held at the University of Southern Maine Portland campus from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The cost per attendee is $100, with dinner included.
