Registrations are currently being collected from special educations directors by the Maine DOE for the National Center and State Collaborative Alternate Assessment (NCSC) that will be used to assess mathematics and English language arts.
Schools that have not yet provided student and test coordinator information to the Department should contact the Department’s Alternate Assessment Coordinator Sue Nay at sue.nay@maine.gov or 624-6774 as soon as possible to ensure all alternate assessment eligible students in grades 3 through 8 and those in the third year of high school are included in this assessment.
The testing window for grades 3-8 and the third year of high school is March 30-May 15.
Additionally, test administrators of the NCSC must submit to the Department a list of students who require a Braille testing format in grades 3 and 4. Non-verbal students in grades 3 and 4 and students that fall into the deaf, blind or deaf/blind category in all tested grades including 3-8 and the third year of high school also need to be reported to receive specific testing directions. Upon the Department’s receipt of notification, a secure email will be sent directly to test administrators that will allow them to return the special request form with student information.
Scott, it looks like you signed up to follow the Department’s Newsroom blog through your own WordPress blog. Because you signed-up to be a follower, I can’t delete you but you can follow these steps to do so: https://en.support.wordpress.com/following/#unfollow-a-blog (look about halfway down the page).
