Notice regarding 30th annual school wellness conference applications; due date extended to May 29

If your school submitted an application for the 30th Annual Maine Schoolsite Health Promotion Program “Wellness” Conference to the Maine DOE but has not yet received a confirmation email with a congratulatory letter, team registration form and Spring Team Leaders’ Meeting information, please contact the Department’s Susan Berry at susan.berry@maine.gov.

It is possible that schools may have faxed completed applications to the Department but they were not received due to fax equipment issues. The application will need to be resubmitted by scanning the documents and emailing to ann.marin@maine.gov; mailing through the USPS or faxing again to 624-6691.

If you have not applied but are still interested in sending a team, the due date has been extended to May 29.  Please email Susan Berry at susan.berry@maine.gov or call 624-6695 to notify the office that you will be applying.

This is a high quality professional development experience open to all Maine schools and school administrative units. The conference provides opportunities to learn about, discuss and respond to issues related to employee wellness, health promotion for staff and students, and healthy learning with nationally and internationally renowned keynote presenters and more than 30 workshops and learning experiences. Teams will use the knowledge, skills and resources to design an action plan for the upcoming school year that will assist in positively enhancing school climate and the school environment; improve the health of students and staff; support personal well-being that contributes to a healthier learning environment and improved academic performance.
