Maine DOE will conduct regional roundtable meetings in November to support and assist districts in understanding Title I requirements of parent involvement as required by the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Sessions will be held in Houlton, Ellsworth and Lewiston.
Planned topics include review of non-regulatory guidance, evaluation of a school-level parent involvement policy and development of an action plan. Through these topics, participants will learn about activity and communication ideas and documentation. Roundtable meetings are small and informal in nature and each group is limited to 15 people. School administrative units on the FY 2016 NCLB monitoring list will have priority for attendance. Registrations will be managed in the order received for one participant from each SAU.
All meetings will take place from 9 a.m. to noon with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Locations are as follows:
- Houlton: Tuesday, Nov. 3 – Houlton Higher Education Center, Room 107, 18 Military Street
- Ellsworth: Tuesday, Nov. 10 – Ellsworth Elementary/Middle School Conference Room, 20 Forrest Avenue
- Lewiston: Tuesday, Nov. 17 – Lewiston School Department in the Dingley Building in the Dingley and Jordan Rooms, 36 Oak Street. Participants should park in the parking garage across the street which is accessible off of Park Street. Two groups of 15 will be organized at this site.
Click here to register by Oct. 16. After that, the Department will notify districts of any remaining open slots to accommodate more than one representative from each SAU.
