Educators are invited to attend Auburn School Department’s two-day Leveraging Learning institute on Oct. 28-30 where participants will learn how to successfully design and implement an iPad initiative to customize learning for students.
This year’s theme is: iPad as a “Thinking Tool” – Beyond Simplicity: Raising the Rigor. The Glossary of Education Reform defines “rigor” as “…instruction, schoolwork, learning experiences, and educational expectations that are academically, intellectually, and personally challenging.”
Maine DOE’s Learning Through Technology Director Mike Muir will be among the institute’s featured speakers. Auburn’s Early Elementary iPad Initiative Leadership Team will be joined by Dr. Reshan Richards, instructor at Teachers College, Columbia University, Chief Learning Officer at Explain Everything, and Apple Distinguished Educator, Dr. Ruben Puentedura and other education experts from across the nation.
Maine is first in the country when it comes to learning through technology, being the first to implement one-to-one technology statewide. Auburn School District was the first to do one-to-one with iPads in primary grades.
Registration remains open. To learn more visit institute2015.auburnschl.edu or contact kgrondin@auburnschl.edu or mike.muir@maine.gov.
