Throughout the 2018- 2019 school year, the Maine Department of Education, State Fire Marshal’s Office, Department of Health and Human Services, Maine State Police, Maine Sheriffs Association, Maine Chiefs of Police Association, and the Maine Emergency Management Agency will provide tips and resource information to Maine schools to help provide some guidance for identifying signs and preventing school violence. | More

Maine Schools Sharing Success Stories
In an effort to help promote and highlight the positive things happening in Maine’s local schools, the Maine DOE will be collecting and sharing stories from local schools and districts and sharing them in this new section of the Weekly Maine DOE Update. Each of the stories will also be highlighted on Maine DOE’s official Facebook and Twitter pages. If a school or district would like to contribute to this section, please have a school official write out a few paragraphs and send it via email to Communications.DOE@maine.gov.
OHills Reads – A Community Reads Initiative Targeting the Opiod Addiction
OHills Reads is a community-led group in collaboration with Healthy Oxford Hills and MSAD 17 that aspires to build a stronger, healthier, and more empathetic community by uniting schools, businesses, local organizations, and families with a community-wide reading and discussion of a common book.
