Today, students, educators, and partners from across Maine came together at the State House to celebrate the power of Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs)! The Maine Department of Education is seeking applicants for an exciting new pilot focused on expanding career-connected learning opportunities across the state. Nearly 500 educators, administrators, families, and community partners came together for Maine’s second annual Inclusive Education Conference—an inspiring day of collaboration, learning, and shared commitment to ensuring every student belongs and succeeds. Congratulations to all who participated and helped make this powerful event a success! This represents the first major update to the funding formula in more than two decades. The forthcoming changes, set to take effect in the 2027-2028 fiscal year, are intended to redistribute state funding for education among school districts to more equitably serve all students and staff in Maine. ExCEL (Expanding Choices for Each Learner) at MSAD 15 is helping students thrive through relationship-centered, student-focused learning that builds confidence, connection, and pathways to success. This story highlights the incredible work happening every day to support learners and create opportunities for all students. As late winter turns to spring, maple sugaring becomes a favorite hands-on learning project in schools across Maine—blending science, culture, outdoor exploration, and a sweet final reward. 🍁 Happy Environmental Education Week & Happy Earth Day! 🌎🌱 This week, we’re celebrating Maine educators and students using the outdoors as a classroom.
