Future Focus event puts eighth-grade girls from central Maine in contact with Iraqi counterpart, women working their dream jobs

With a roll of her eyes, Maryann replied, “Oh, noooo!”

Shrieks rang out in response through Given Auditorium at Colby College as 250 eighth-grade girls talked to Maryann Naman in Kurdistan, Iraq, live via Skype.  The girls, from four schools in central Maine, were at the morning keynote of Future Focus, an annual conference sponsored by the Waterville branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI).

Three schools to represent Maine at innovation conference

Schools will share successful strategies with colleagues from across New England

AUGUSTA – Three Maine secondary schools—Deer Isle-Stonington High School, Hall-Dale Middle/High School (Farmingdale), and Westbrook High School—have been invited to represent their state at a regional conference on effective strategies for improving teaching and learning in the 21st century.

Wellness conference fosters healthy schools

The 27th annual Maine Schoolsite Health Promotion Program “Wellness” Conference will take place Monday, June 25 through Wednesday, June 27 at Sugarloaf USA.
