Each school administrative unit must complete and electronically submit the 2012-13 Gifted and Talented application and/or plans by Dec. 3, 2012. The Gifted and Talented application, budget (MEDMS Financial) and/or Gifted and Talented academic and arts plans are required as part of your Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP). The forms and reporting links are available on the following Maine DOE website: http://www.maine.gov/education/speced/gt/forms/index.html.
- New school administrative units that operated schools must complete only sections V and VI (including submission of the budget to MEDMS Financial) of the annual applications and include with these sections an academic plan and a visual and performing arts plan.
- Due to new legislation (PL 2011 Chapter 678), school administrative units that did not have approved plans in 2011-12 and that operated schools must submit plans and application for approval. Please complete sections V and VI (including submission of the budget to MEDMS Financial) of the annual applications and include with these sections an academic plan and a visual and performing arts plan. A school administrative unit may request from the commissioner a waiver for 2012-13 by submitting the application form. Check number “4)” under Section I Status of Program Implementation, and provide documentation of the basis for the waiver request.
- Each town (member unit) in an Alternative Organizational Structure (AOS) or a union must complete a Gifted and Talented Program application, including submission of the budget to MEDMS Financial.
The document called “Guidelines for Completing the Reports for Gifted and Talented Educational Program Approval and Approval of Program Costs” is designed to help you complete the application, plans and budget.
