Flags to be flown half-staff until Sunday, September 16

The Governor’s Office has issued the following notice:

AUGUSTA – In accordance with a Presidential proclamation, the United States flag and the State of Maine flag shall be flown at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in honor of the four Americans who lost their lives after an attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya. Among those killed were United States Ambassador to Libya, John Christopher Stevens and Foreign Services Information Officer, Sean Smith.

“The loss of these four Americans who so nobly served their country is a tragedy. My heart goes out their friends and families, and I encourage all Mainers to keep them in their thoughts and prayers,” said Governor LePage.
