The following Priority Notice was distributed to school superintendents today in advance of the 103rd Annual Commissioner’s Conference for Superintendents:
Dear Superintendents,
We look forward to working with you next week during the 103rd Annual Commissioner’s Conference for Superintendents, scheduled to begin at noon on Monday, June 23 at Point Lookout in Northport.
Thanks to the thoughtful feedback of our conference planning partners from the Maine School Superintendents Association (MSSA) and the Maine Principals Association (MPA), the Department has designed an agenda that provides you the information and practical tools to be effective change leaders as your districts navigate the opportunities ahead to improve the college and career readiness of our students.
As part of our commitment to ensuring our shared time at the conference is as productive as possible, we are pleased to provide you some conference materials and helpful links for your review in advance at www.maine.gov/doe/commishconference. We also want to remind you to bring your completed district self-assessment and if you plan to take advantage of one-on-one sessions with our School Finance and Operations Team staff who will be on site, printed copies of your ED 279s.
Please note materials will continually be added as they become available up to and including throughout the conference, so we encourage you to bookmark this page and check back for updates prior to arriving in Northport on June 23. We also recommend you bring your laptop or tablet, as there will not be printed copies of the materials that have been posted in advance to this page.
See you Monday at noon,
Jim Rier, Commissioner
Maine Department of Education
