Special rates for Maine teachers at National Council for the Social Studies conference

The National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) will host the nation’s largest and most comprehensive social studies professional development conference at its 2014 Annual Conference in Boston, November 21-23.

Top social studies professionals from across the United States and around the world will come together at the conference to explore standards-based resources, emerging research, changing technologies, and classroom-ready activities.  The conference includes more than 800 sessions, clinics, and speakers in history, economics, civics, geography, and social sciences.

Please note the Maine Council for the Social Studies will not be holding a statewide conference in 2014 and encourages teachers to attend the NCSS conference.  Maine teachers are eligible for discounted individual and group registration rates, up to 50% off regular registration rates. The reduced registration rate for local individuals is $200 and $720 for a group of 4 teachers. To receive the discount rates, visit the local registration page of the NCSS site where individual and group registration forms may be downloaded.

Conference scholarships are also available for qualifying first time attendees whom teach full-time at a school in New England.  Priority will be given to applicants who are in their first five years of teaching, are working in a high-poverty school, and have a diverse background and/or experience.

More information and applications are available on the NCSS scholarship page.
