Career and technical educators and administrators from around Maine recently gathered at the Lewiston Regional Technical Center to receive training on Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards, assessment and industry recognized credentials.
The Maine Administrators of Career and Technical Education facilitated and organized the conference for the 400 participants and the Maine DOE CTE staff led many of the professional development workshops offered.
Attendees also met with their tech update program groups to learn about their individual program updates and to discuss the standards certification process and their program assessments options.
Another training specifically for CTE Directors was also held recently at the Maine DOE’s Augusta headquarters. The day including a welcome from the Department’s CTE Director Margaret Harvey and sessions provided by Department staff on law changes that affect CTE teacher certification, proficiency-based education and CTE, Perkins required programs of study and educator effectiveness.
